The flat screen is not only for televisions. It’s also an essential upgrade in computer monitors. Laptops and tablets have improved their video cards to the point that the picture is better than most theaters.  As more and more people rely on their computers for entertainment, it begs the question, “are computers replacing the television?”

Gamers Demand High Resolution

Although may people play games on their television, hard-core gamers will set up a series of monitors and play for hours on their computer. The video quality of those screens is awe-inspiring. In fact, the average consumer is starting to buy these monitors, too. Not everyone plays games, but everyone likes good video quality when watching anything on their computer.

Technology has introduced high-definition television, and computer monitors are right there with the center of the American living room. The movie and entertainment outlets are onto to the trend. Those gamers’ monitors are great for watching rented movies.

No Mail Today. Just Stream That Movie

Companies like Netflix pretty much put the video storefront out of business. They started with their fast mail delivery service, but now their offering streaming movies via computers. Other companies are on the bandwagon. Hulu is offering movies and television shows. So does iTunes and many more.

A person who works from home can literally work on the computer, play a game or two, and then watch a movie without ever leaving the same spot. Although that level of inactivity isn’t encouraged, a person living in a small space could literally forgo the television and easily keep up with all the news, entertainment and fun that T.V. programming offers via the computer.
